New Pendants!! Mini Urban Artifacts

Some new pendants I've been working on. I love this style...small, simple but still super colorful.

Little mini versions of the original Urban Artifacts - large bib style pieces, not really for everyday wear....now ARE easy to wear! The chains are 24" and completely adjustable so you can have an appropriate length for different necklines. Each one is unique and all on it's own in this world.....I work very randomly so no two will ever be identical...similar, yes.....but not the same.

The Monster Cake

So last week was my daughter's 8th birthday and she decided on a monster theme. She chose a photo off of the internet from a bakery on Dubai, and since we are surely not ordering a cake from Dubai I said I'd attempt to bake it for her myself.

I have several birthday's in January, so I take a break from glasswork and get organized around the house, plan parties and bake cakes. Although I've made my own fondant many times using this recipe here , I had not attempted such a tall cake...this one was 5 - 8" rounds topped off with a half sphere baked in a pyrex bowl. Inside he's green vanilla cake made with this recipe doubled, regular buttercream between the layers and wrapped in a layer of fondant...and let me tell you...he tasted delicious! The cake was moist, yet held up to carving without a problem. His arms are solid fondant and I attached a 16g bent wire at his shoulders to keep them attached just in case.

The table decor was provided by Sweet Earth Celebrations as well as some great games and a craft for the girls to do.
